Fascinating, but I am not sure I get the connection with your examples. Perhaps in 300 years people will think the work mask originated in the wake of pandemic since this is the time in history when the whole world began to include them in their daily fashion. Masks have been around for ages but they are certainly most prominent right now.

Is that the kind of word shift you were talking about? While it isn’t a colloquialism… it is a word that is getting a revival and new definition, thanks to pandemic response. Oh! Pandamerica! That could be a word in 300 years referring to the current times as lived in the USA.
